Multi-Stakeholder Net Zero Programme

a bridge over a body of water with tall buildings in the background

The Challenge

Local authorities across the UK were struggling with fragmented climate data, lack of standardised frameworks, and limited capacity to make evidence-based Net Zero decisions. They needed strategic coordination to align government, industry, and tech providers around practical solutions.

My Role

I designed and delivered a comprehensive programme combining stakeholder engagement, roundtable facilitation, research synthesis, and thought leadership content. This included organising two major roundtables (2023 and 2024), engaging 30+ stakeholders from councils, tech companies, moderating discussions to identify key challenges, and translating insights into actionable articles published through techUK.

The Outcome

  • Established consensus on the need for national data standards for emissions tracking

  • Connected local authorities with tech solutions providers, facilitating partnerships

  • Published insights reached local government and tech sector stakeholders

  • Westminster City Council showcased their climate mapping tool as a replicable model

  • Created momentum for central government support on data standardisation

What Made the Difference

By connecting research (climate data challenges), stakeholder engagement (bringing diverse voices together), events (structured roundtables), and communications (publishing findings), I created a feedback loop where each element strengthened the others. The programme didn't just identify problems, it built the relationships and shared understanding needed to solve them.

UK-Wide Digital Innovation Programme

The Challenge

The UK tech sector needed granular, evidence-based insights into regional digital ecosystems to inform Local Growth Plans and investment decisions. This required coordinating multiple stakeholders, validating complex datasets, and translating technical findings into accessible strategic guidance.

My Role

I led the stakeholder engagement and regional insights development for the techUK Local Digital Index 2023 and 2024—a flagship annual research programme. My work included engaging stakeholders across government, industry, academia, and consultancies to gather and validate data, coordinating a multi-stakeholder working group to refine findings, authoring three regional case studies (West Midlands, Greater Manchester, Glasgow) highlighting innovation accelerators and policy initiatives, and organising and hosting launch events in Birmingham (2023) and Manchester (2024) to maximise impact.

The Outcome

  • Report informed tech industry sector and policy decisions across regions

  • Launch events attracted 100+ senior stakeholders from government, industry and academia

  • Case studies provided replicable models for regional tech ecosystem development

  • Programme established annual benchmark for tracking UK digital economy growth

What Made the Difference

Success required seeing how research, stakeholder relationships, and events worked together. The working group didn't just validate data, it built buy-in. The case studies opened doors for future partnerships. The launch event created the momentum for implementation. Integrated thinking turned research into real-world impact.

Regional Tech Ecosystem Event Series

The Challenge

Tech companies and local authorities across UK regions needed platforms to share knowledge, identify opportunities, and build partnerships but lacked structured engagement opportunities that went beyond basic networking.

My Role

I designed and delivered a series of high-impact regional events as part of my programme management role, combining strategic planning, stakeholder coordination, panel moderation, and content development. This included Birmingham Tech Week 2024 (organised events and moderated panel on West Midlands tech ecosystem), Connected Britain and Connected North 2024 (invited speaker moderating panels on digital inclusion and industry-government collaboration), Leeds Digital Festival Tech Spotlight (organised event exploring West Yorkshire innovation landscape), and Local Public Services Innovation Summit in London (organised event and moderated panel on tech-enabled public service delivery).

The Outcome

  • Events reached 500+ stakeholders across government, industry, and academia

  • Multiple partnership opportunities and discussions initiated between local authorities and tech suppliers

  • Panel discussions generated ongoing dialogue on procurement reform and innovation adoption

  • Created replicable event model scaled across multiple regions

What Made the Difference

Rather than treating events as standalone activities, I designed each one as part of a broader stakeholder engagement strategy. Pre-event research identified the right participants and questions. During events, I moderated discussions to surface actionable insights. Post-event, I created content that extended the conversation and maintained momentum. Each event fed into the next, building relationships and trust across the ecosystem.

Insights were collected from 130 survey responses representing organisations such as vehicle manufacturers, SMEs, technology developers, academia, and government bodies, both from the UK and internationally. To ensure industry alignment, six dedicated workshops were held, each focused on a specific technology area. These workshops brought together experts from suppliers, OEMs, academia, and trade organisations to discuss and validate challenges across different vehicle types. By integrating multiple perspectives and leveraging stakeholder expertise, the final report accurately reflects industry needs and helps shape future research and innovation priorities.

  • International Women in Engineering Day: The engineering heroes of tomorrow - Link to article (for APC)

    • Through this blog I was keen to emphasise that climate change is a pressing issue, especially for women, who are often more impacted by environmental damage. Women in technology and engineering are leading innovation in areas like cleaner manufacturing, green energy, and circular economy practices. While women are still underrepresented in these fields, empowering them to lead climate action could drive transformational change. Inspiring young women to pursue careers in sustainability through initiatives like STEM is crucial for creating a gender-equal, innovative future in tackling climate change.
